Public Speaking Training

If you are a solo practitioner, service provider or business owner, you are in two businesses. First, your business. Second, the business of communication. Public speaking training is critical for anyone who wants to succeed as an entrepreneur.
I recently was talking with a nutritionist. He told me how he loved his work and had been doing it since the ’70’s. But he only liked talking directly to his patients and clients. He hated talking in public.
What a waste!
Imagine how much more impact he could have had, if he had been comfortable and confident speaking in public. He could have spoken at industry meetings, trade associations and civic gatherings. He could have influenced thousands of people with his deep insights into health and nutrition.
If you are anxious about public speaking, training can help. One thing is certain, however. If you don’t get training, you can’t expect to get better. Many people spend their entire lives dreading speaking in public. And even if they occasionally read a book or two on the topic, nothing really changes.
Mastery of the art of public speaking should be the goal of every single entrepreneur. It doesn’t matter if you business doesn’t require you to speak in front of groups. It doesn’t matter if you could do your research and be a highly respected subject matter expert.
Without the right training and learning the principles of public speaking, you will limit yourself. I find this sad and unnecessary. The principles of public speaking are quick to learn and easy to use. Why wait?
Don’t let your ideas, insights, and contribution go unnoticed. Get the skills you need so you can make a valuable contribution to people around you. Who knows, you may even come to be enthusiastic about jumping up to give a presentation!
